Ruby Mountain Resource Center mainly employs adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They work with RMRC as a training unit. Job-coaches are employed to help the employees with disabilities, but their job does not stop with aiding these employees. Instead, this team is goal-driven. They have activities and long-term goals, as well as daily goals. Progress on team goals is tracked through a variety of means, while individual goals are tracked every day with the aid of specific plans and paperwork for each employee.
RMRC also employs several sales associates, and a team of management that all work together to make the programs work. The adults with disabilities, job-coaches, and sales associates work as a very close team to help the stores run smoothly, stay clean, and do their best to make the customers’ shopping experience a pleasant one.
Ruby Mountain Resource Center is, first and foremost, a job training center. This is the mission statement of the organization, and centers around helping the employees with disabilities overcome obstacles that keep them from working in the community. All of the other employees are dedicated to this goal, as well.
While employee’s utmost concern is the job-training that RMRC provides, they are also very interested in maintaining the good reputation of the stores. Employees, including sales associates, job coaches, the employees with disabilities, and management are very concerned with keeping quality items stocked, the store clean, and keeping an effective method of organization in place.
When career opportunities open, they are generally posted several places around the Elko area, as well as online. At this time, RMRC only takes paper applications. When opportunities arise, the applications are generally available from sales associates at either store.
